Yeehaw! This is New York Anime Festival Show Manager Lance Fensterman with your weekly behind-the-scenes glimpse at what's going on in the world of NYAF and in the NYC anime community. This week we're giving you what you've been waiting for and MORE! We have the guest of honor announcement that'll rock your socks... drumroll please... it's Minori Chihara - prolific Japanese voice actress and singer!!! We've also got the deets about NYAF 2010's special ticket packages - designed to make your experience at the show even more over-the-top! MINORI CHIHARA - GUEST OF HONOR
We are psyched to announce that Minori Chihara will appear at NYAF as a guest of honor! Ms. Chihara is a Scorpio, likes cats and chocolate, and oh yeah, she is most well known as the voice of Yuki Nagato in the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzamiya franchise. She also performs it's theme song, "Yasashii Boukyaku". You can find Minori all over NYAF at panel sessions, autograph signings, and at the introduction to the new film, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. She will also be performing a concert at NYAF on Saturday, October 9th. General admission to the concert is first come first served, but if you want to guarantee yourself a seat, reserved seating will be available via NYAF's tickets page starting at 12 noon EST on July 15th.
Special Ticket Packages
This year, we've created a number of different packages in order to suit individual tastes and interests. Rather than offer a one-size-fits-all package, we've tailored multiple packages to serve the breadth of our fan base. We want you to have the con experience that you are looking for and these packages allow you to have the flexibility to choose the experience that you want. Special ticket packages will go on sale at noon EST on Thursday July 15th. But hurry! Most of the special packages are first come, first served! New York Asian Film Festival
Starts This Weekend

All things merry are happening this weekend! Thank goodness, because our anxious selves were just about ready to burst! Are you ready to experience Asian pop culture like you never have before? Make sure you get to the New York Asian Film Festival from June 25th to July 8th

!These films are enchanting, enticing and engaging and this is the only time you'll get to see Asian film's latest and greatest in once place. Looking for a little kung-fu POW? It's there. Need to experience a bout of hilarium? You got it. A flashback to the 80s via a giant monster movie? Booyah!

There are over 40 films from Asia being screened over the two-week-long NYAFF extravaganza! Indubitably, no doubt, for sure...you have to make sure you check them out. Once you see one, you're going to be hooked!

The Wait Is Over - NYAF Guest #1 Is...

A pair of headstrong rock stars. They're loud, they've got unshakable attitude and they completely juice up the crowd. They've played all over the states recently and are getting ready to take us by storm again...VAMPS!

This Japanese rock band will appear at the show on Friday, October 8th for a Q&A session with fans. Then, they'll follow up their NYAF/NYCC appearance the next day with a show at the Roseland Ballroom in Midtown Manhattan on Saturday, October 8th (tickets sold separately). They seem ready to be in NYC - check out the what's up NYAF video they recorded for you guys. Solid!

VAMPS is huge in Japan and they're making a stamp on American music as well! In 2009 they sold out Irving Plaza in NY and will be playing all over the States for their VAMPS Live 2010 World Tour starting in October. We could go on an on about how stoked we are, because their sounds kick it, but we'd rather you hear for yourselves! Check out their YouTube channel and single and then go to the VAMPS website and get ready to see them in October! YES!
